About the Folks at Stillman's Greenhouse

Stillman's Greenhouse is owned and operated by Stan and Sharie Beaver, and has served the Finger Lakes area of New York since 1949 when George Stillman first began to raise and sell garden plants. George and his wife Louise retired in October of 1976, selling the business to the Beavers.

At that time, the property had only six greenhouses, but the business has continued to grow and expand, building on an excellent reputation for quality and customer care. Soon after purchasing the business, a florist was hired and the Floral Department was established, followed in 1982 by a new, larger Garden Center.

In 1996, adjacent land was purchased, and the existing house was remodeled to become the Florist and Gift Shop. By 2000, the business had grown to eleven greenhouses, offering perennials, annuals, house plants, vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets and potted plants. They also established an extensive nursery, with fruit and shade trees, shrubbery, ornamental grasses, ground cover, flowering and fruit bushes, and full service residential landscaping, from consultation, to planning and installation.

Today, Stillman's services are all under one roof for customer convenience, and we have added the Country Store, chock full of gifts, local products, bulk food products, mixes, syrups, honey and more.

Every day, Stan oversees the greenhouse maintenance and operates the landscaping services, while Sharie oversees the greenhouse growing and ordering.

One of the great benefits of shopping at Stillman's is our exceptional staff, and most of our employees have been with us for many years. Their knowledge, experience, and friendly customer service defines the experience of shopping at Stillman's Greenhouse.

Suzie is our Greenhouse Supervisor, and oversees the greenhouse workers, assists customers with their plant orders, builds wonderful gardens, and much more.

Kathy is our Garden Center Customer Service person. With a friendly smile, she assists customers with their purchases, assists with ordering, and keeps the department organized, filling in just wherever she can help.

The primary floral designer is Kim, who manages the flower shop, while doing all of the flower and supply ordering along with her own wonderfully creative floral designs. She is assisted

part-time by Pam, who designs part-time and is also our friendly Saturday delivery person. Vicki is our delivery person on weekdays. She also is skilled at helping customers with their Floral orders by phone as well as in the Flower Shop. In addition, she assists the floral design staff.

Kate is our bookkeeper, and also manages our new bulk foods department.

In addition to these great, experienced full timers, we are able to employ 8-10 seasonal

workers, many of whom have been able to return year after year to help in the greenhouses and assist our customers.
